CANAL GARDEN HUB
THE PROPOSAL
Awoke proposes to create a unique horticultural wonder in East London - a test bed of creativity, innovation and collaboration.

We would host multiple projects and small businesses on the site, sharing the space according to each need, contributing collectively to the overhead costs. This allows groups to expand out of their current premises, or develop new businesses that need outdoor space.
What do canal boaters do with their poop? With a growing number of subscribers, this toilet waste collection service supports Awoke's proposal, as it would allow their service to expand and offers the potential to use treated human waste as a soil conditioner on site.
Workshops
Outdoor space to host workshops such as this apple juicing session.

Community food production
With smart garden design, we believe part of the site can be dedicated to growing food in sufficient quantity to support local restaurants, and local community gardeners. Barge East are on board!
Mini-allotments
So many local people are on the council allotment waiting lists, there is clearly opportunity to create individual growing spaces. Part of the site can accommodate pallet sized raised beds.
Garden displays
Did you know that the RHS show gardens are mostly relocated to permanent sites? Awoke would love to host a show garden in East London with ongoing public access. Display gardens demonstrate the latest innovations and trends in horticulture, inspiring people to join the industry and take part in on-site horticultural training.
